Planning your proposal can be a little bit daunting. There are SO MANY things to consider once you’ve realized that your partner is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with! Where should you do it? Should it be a grand event or something private and intimate? Who’s going to take photos? It all depends on personality and creating a place and moment that is special to the two of you. But where do you start? Don’t worry – we’re helping you out!
The location of your proposal should be something special to the two of you. Maybe the location you first met? Or the spot you guys went on your first date. Whatever it is, it’s a great idea to make that the spot you drop down on one knee.
Friends and family are a great addition to a proposal. Let them know ahead of time that it’s a surprise and they can be there hiding until the big moment.
Hire a Photographer
Hire a photographer to arrive at your location before hand, so they’re able to scout the location and make it all discrete so the surprise isn’t taken away. You’re definitely going to want photos of this moment and a photographer is the best way to ensure you’re going to get the best photos possible.
Do you have a song that is dubbed “your song”? Have it subtly playing in the background to crank up the romance in the room. At a restaurant with a live band? Coordinate before hand to have them start playing the song during the moment you plan to propose.
Timing is everything. Try and opt for a proposal earlier in the evening so it leaves some time for celebration with your friends and family!!
Now is the most important time to truly speak from the heart. You don’t need to plan a speech or memorize anything. Tell your partner how you feel about them, how much you love them, why they make you the happiest person in the world and why you want to spend the rest of your life with them. Oh! And eye contact – eye contact here is very important :).
No matter what you end up deciding to do, ensure that it’s special between the two of you because in the end that’s all that matters. Cook a special dinner and propose at home if that’s what would make it special, don’t feel the need to make it a grand event if that’s not what they would want.
Congratulations to all of the people out there getting ready to propose!! It will be amazing!
