Choosing a wedding photographer isn’t easy. To be honest, there are A TON of options for you out there and the entire process can be overwhelming for some. When you start to book consultations with your photographer, do you have any idea what you should be going in there prepared with? Your photographer will definitely have questions for you – and one of our Luxiar photographers gave us his top 3 things that YOU should be considering when meeting your wedding photographer.
Ask before hand for the photographer to not only bring a portfolio album, but ask to see a full wedding album – something close to what you would be paying for if you hired that photographer. Seeing a wedding portfolio is crucial, but you also want to see the type of album you’d be taking home and the design and quality of the entire album.
Our Luxiar photographer gave us another really big point that you should think about before your consultation. When meeting with a photographer, ask about past weddings/engagements they’ve done and talk to them to get a sense of their work ethic and philosophy. You want to make sure your photographer is always “on”. The moments at your wedding are once in a lifetime and if your photographer isn’t there snapping their shutter, they may miss it. You can also see from their portfolio if they catch those really quick, candid moments or not.
Our Luxiar photographer noted that one of the first thing you need to find out is if your photographer can handle the needs of your wedding. If they are a one man show and you have 300+ guests, you may need to find a photographer that has more than one photographer available. You want to ensure your photographer is organized, prepared and understands your wedding so that they can maximize time.
At Luxiar, we do our best to accommodate your needs on your wedding day, including the option for extra photographers as needed, real albums to show you on-site at consultations and an entire wedding day itinerary so that we know exactly the photos you want so nothing is ever missed. Shoot us an e-mail if you want to schedule your consult with us and see what we can do for you.
